Calcium is the primary mineral for bone health. Ministry of Health Malaysia Osteoporosis CPG 2022 recommends 1000mg/day for postmenopausal women, from food and/or supplements. The citrate-malate form is better absorbed than carbonate, especially for women on PPIs or older women. Dietary sources include small fish with bones (anchovy, sardine), tofu, milk, and leafy greens. Calcium supplements are generally straightforward to verify as halal.
