Melatonin in menopause
Melatonin is the sleep hormone produced by the pineal gland. Production declines with age, especially postmenopause. Melatonin supplements (0.3-3mg) can help sleep-onset insomnia, but evidence for full menopausal insomnia is mixed. Short-term use is more appropriate than chronic use. Halal status is easy to verify (synthetic, vegetable capsule).
