Phytoestrogen in menopause
Phytoestrogens are natural plant compounds that mimic estrogen in structure and can interact with the body's estrogen receptors. Include isoflavones (soy, red clover), lignans (flaxseed), and coumestans. For Malaysian women, main dietary sources are tempeh, tofu, soy milk, and grains. Evidence suggests phytoestrogen-rich diets can mildly-to-moderately reduce menopausal symptom severity.
