Postmenopause in menopause
Postmenopause is the phase after menopause, beginning 12 months after the last period and lasting the rest of a woman's life. In this phase, estrogen levels remain low, with long-term effects including an increased risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause (vaginal and urinary problems caused by menopause). While symptoms like hot flushes usually subside within the first 4-7 years, some women experience symptoms for 10+ years.
