Progesterone in menopause
Progesterone is the second hormone in hormone replacement therapy, needed for women who still have a uterus to protect the endometrium from estrogen-induced thickening. The modern choice is micronised progesterone (Utrogestan), which is bioidentical with minimal side effects. Taken at night because it can cause drowsiness - many women find this helps sleep too.
