Surgical Menopause in menopause
Synonyms: oophorectomy
Surgical menopause occurs after removal of both ovaries (oophorectomy) - typically for ovarian cancer, severe endometriosis, or BRCA prophylaxis. Different from natural menopause: symptoms appear sudden and severe, long-term risks earlier. hormone replacement therapy typically recommended for women under 45 for prevention.
