Transdermal (HRT patch) in menopause
Transdermal refers to delivering hormones through the skin using patches (Estradot, Climara) or gel (Oestrogel). Compared to oral hormone replacement therapy, transdermal has lower thrombosis (blood clot) risk because it bypasses the liver. Top choice for women with migraine, high body mass index, or cardiovascular risk. Patches change every 3-7 days; gels apply daily.
