Vaginal Estrogen in menopause
Vaginal estrogen is a local estrogen treatment in cream, tablet, or ring form. It is minimally absorbed into the bloodstream, so systemic exposure is usually low, but suitability still needs clinician review. Unlike systemic hormone replacement therapy, vaginal estrogen does not significantly increase breast cancer risk; even so, it needs clinician review, especially with a history of breast cancer or unexplained bleeding. Available in Malaysia as Vagifem (tablet) and Premarin cream.
